The NCR FSMA is organizing a Lending Library for tools and technology. Growers, processors, and educators will be able to check out materials and try them for 90 days. This should allow growers and processors to try different technology and tools that might be helpful in their operations. They can test drive materials before investing money- deciding if the technology works in an operation their size or if the tool will actually save them time.
Educators can borrow technology to demonstrate in their trainings for growers and processors.
Borrowers will need to send basic information to the Lending Library staff to register for the library. To ensure technology is being loaned to growers and processors in the North Central Region, Extension agents and state departments of agriculture staff may need to confirm that the grower or processor works in a particular state.
Borrowers can check out one item at a time. Postage will be paid by the NCR FSMA Center.
The materials will be stored in a trailer that also contains several water treatment technologies. Starting late this summer, the trailer will be available to travel to field days or trainings for local growers and processors. Participants will be able to check out materials at those events.
